Hydrocarbon
recovery
Chematek has developed specific products and technologies to recover
hydrocarbons from the sludge

Detergents
The products are blends of biodegradable surface active agents (detergents and
dispersants) soluble in water and/or oil, which are used to emulsify the
sludge, to reduce its viscosity and to separate the water present as the
stability of the emulsion may be controlled. They may also be used to
solubilise and/or disperse the hydrocarbons present on the shell of the tanks
or other Refinery equipment.

About 80-90% of the hydrocarbons are recovered.

The quality of the recovered hydrocarbon phase is suitable for the topping unit
or for blending into fuel oil pool.

The water phase can be disposed of through the refinery wastewater treatment
system without any problem.

The process is safe for the workers, since the manual intervention is minimal
and it is safe for the environment as well, since no solvents are used and the
surfactants are highly biodegradable.
